With over 20 years experience of writing and recording (and a combined experience of over a century!), we can offer a quick turnaround on very high quality writing and recording to your specification. Our professional home studio offers various options in terms of mics and acoustic, all recorded with the highest standards. Whilst mics are important, most importantly we are all professional musicians using professional instruments - a 200 year old cello, a 1920s professional violin for example, which offer a wealth of rich sounds on their own. You can then capture these in stereo, distanced, or close mic'd for the 'onstage' feel.
If you've got a part notated already, we can usually offer a full turnaround in 72 hrs for a full group, or even quicker is it's just a solo line. Drop us a line with details of the project, what it's for, where it will be used and what sound you're looking for. After an initial email agreement, it's usually best to send an mp3 guide of the track you want it played onto. We can then send three finished takes to you for notes and suggestions if you'd like them playing any differently. Once you're happy with the results, we can take payment by BACS or Paypal and you will be sent the finished solo files as AIFF, WAV, Protools or any file format you like. As a rough guide, cello throughout a 3 minute song would be around £100 finished to top specifications, a quartet £200. If you have more than one track, it is probably best to book us at the MU Session rate.
Our cellist is a professional composer and arranger and is always happy to write music for tracks. You can send us a mix of the track with a sung/computerised or other interpretation of what you'd like and we'll notate it and make it pretty for you. He's also happy to create some options for you, which will be prepared on Sibelius and sent to you for approval first. Or, you can give our musicians a chance to freely improvise and come up with something for you. All finished scores are produced at an extra (but realistic) cost, and are then yours to keep and use for live performances etc.
All of our fees are quoted bespoke for your project. We work with many formats (songs, music libraries, film, tv, charities), and therefore we will quote you based on what works best for all involved. If it's a major label release, then PPL agreements will make the session fee less, for example.
